Ensure the snap to grid is enabled, enter edit mode, edit the required object as though you want to move it (see above) and then drag it to the required grid line. You will see that the object jumps between grid lines as you move the mouse away from one grid line and closer to another. Do not forget to confirm the operation once you have placed the object where you want it.
